Meet Sue (she/her/hers)— a CBT therapist in Glasgow, with a special interest in helping people who struggle with food, anxiety, body image, and self-worth

I know how overwhelming it can feel to constantly be thinking about what you’re eating, how you look, or whether you’re “doing good enough”. These patterns are often less about food, and more about how we relate to ourselves.

I will help you understand what’s going on beneath the surface, and to support you in building new, more helpful ways of thinking. I work collaboratively with clients; I’m not here to tell you what to do, but instead explore what you feel would be helpful to move towards your goals.

I have additional training in working with eating disorders and body image concerns. I take a compassionate, non-judgmental approach, especially when it comes to food and self-worth.

Therapy with me won’t be about pushing or fixing—it’s about understanding, exploring, and creating lasting change.

You’re tired of beating yourself up over a lack of willpower, feeling guilt or shame around food, and constantly striving for perfection in order to feel good enough.

Clients often say they feel genuinely heard and understood in sessions, and that they leave with practical tools to use in daily life—not just insight, but real progress.

Whether you’re new to therapy or returning to it, I offer a calm and supportive space to figure things out.

My Approach to Therapy

Therapy with me is an accepting, non-judgemental (and no bullshit) space to explore your experiences. I work collaboratively - I’m not here to tell you how to feel or what to do.

You can be yourself with me; no need to filter what you’re saying, or minimise how you’re feeling. Actually, I want you to be your whole self in the room with me, and feel comfortable doing that. Shame hides in the dark corners of our minds, and keeping those parts of yourself hidden away won’t help you move through the hard stuff.

My role is to help you move through uncomfortable things - change and growth are uncomfortable and can be really hard. We’ll move at your pace, and there’s no expectation to share more than you’re ready to. The time and space is yours do explore what you need to, with my support. You get to decide what we focus on, and where we’re trying to get to.

I want you to leave each session with me feeling like you have newfound awareness of something, whether that’s where a certain behaviour or pattern started, a new strategy to help you cope with challenging emotions, or ways to communicate your support needs to important people in your life. Some weeks, we might be focusing on the wins — because therapy isn’t just about the hard stuff. Together, we can explore it all.

  • I’ve dedicated my professional career to understanding food, nutrition, attachment, relationships, trauma, and how to help make lasting change. There’s so much more to food than just nutrition, especially when it comes to coping with complex relationships to eating.

My training as a CBT therapist means that I have the expertise that you need and deserve when it comes to processing your anxieties, insecurities and concerns about food and eating. I have dedicated countless hours to additional training specifically for disordered eating and body image issues.

Ultimately, I can help you because I’ve lived it myself - having challenging relationship to food and eating from living through times when there wasn’t enough money to eat, having family “food rules” that shaped my relationship to eating, being stuck in the loop of dieting then giving up because it was too restrictive. On top of my personal experiences, I’m extensively trained in helping people overcome these types of experiences and their lasting effects.

Through working together, you’ll be able to cope with distressing emotions without turning to food, recover from all-or-nothing mindsets around eating, increase your self-esteem and thrive in your relationships without the burden of constant food noise.

  • Clients describe me as non-judgemental, able to pick up on and remember small details, and someone that they feel is real with them. Many of my clients come to be after having had negative experiences with past therapists, and can see the difference being in the room with me (irl or virtually) is. This is why they feel completely comfortable to be their authentic self with me.

Our professional relationship is incredibly important to me. I always make space for questions and feedback so that I can make sure that I’m able to help you as much as possible. While I do follow some structure, nothing about my sessions with clients is rigid; there’s always space to make things work for you.

  • I’m originally from Canada’s West Coast, and have been living in Scotland since 2015.

My first career was a chef until I returned to higher education several times throughout my adult life, first as a nutritionist and then therapist, always finding my way back to kitchens in one way or another. While I no longer work as a chef, my love of food, cooking for people, and supporting local food systems remains strong.

When I’m not with clients or cooking, you’ll find me outdoors, likely near water, with my partner, kids, and our rescue dog, Kali.

Am I the right therapist for you?

As a therapist, I’m also invested in my own personal growth because I know how valuable it is to sit with someone and take the time to explore thoughts and feelings that I haven’t had the opportunity to speak out loud before. Therapy can be overwhelming, uncomfortable, disappointing, and frustrating. I would never ask my clients to do something that I’ve not done myself and I know that it’s worth it.
